Lomopaintings stems from the theories of Fukuyama and his "End of History." This concept, already advocated by Marx, heir to the Hegelian thought, argued that the direction of historical development contained a specific intent by the interaction of forces materials, and would come to an end when the communist utopia is reached. For Hegel, the contradictions that drive history exist first in the field of human consciousness, namely the world of ideas, in the sense of broad unifying vision of the world, better understood under the name of ideology. I understand this concept not only as political and social doctrine, but also in the moral, cultural and religious sense. The fall of communism, therefore, as the last great utopia, meant the final establishment of liberalism. In this concept this raises the possibility of a denial of a better future, and therefore the end of historical evolution, with painting being an example of this.

This loss of direction and other fundamental characteristics of Postmodernism as a lack of faith in the political and religious systems, becomes, in my opinion, a general sense of social nostalgia and melancholy. Nostalgic times perhaps governed by ideologies and loaded with a directional sense.

With my project I want to link these concepts with the return of past trends, both aesthetically and technologically, and more specifically with the revival of analog photography. This resurgence answers, in my opinion, several of the proposed questions. The lack of group membership and the unconscious melancholy are perfectly reflected in this phenomenon. In particular, the unconscious melancholy, because in real terms, we are children of that melancholy. Our generation has not experienced the fall of the great ideologies, but it has grown into the despair of this defeat and is unsure of exactly what or who to blame.
