Kyungtaek Lee’s work explores the boundaries between photography, memory and perception, questioning the apparent certainty of photographic images and their ability to represent reality. Through landscapes marked by traces of human presence and experimental processes of physical erasure, the artist investigates the relationship between what is visible and what remains unseen.

Combining contemporary photography with traditional Korean materials and techniques, Lee transforms photographic images into unique material objects. His practice reflects on absence, the passage of time and the fragile relationship between nature and human intervention.

By removing visual information rather than adding it, Lee challenges conventional ways of seeing, inviting viewers to slow down, embrace uncertainty and discover new meanings in what has been erased or left behind.
