A visual artist working across painting, drawing, and sculpture, with watercolor as his primary medium. His practice is grounded in walking, observing, and collecting, drawing inspiration from public and transitional spaces. - Javier de Juan (b. 1958, Linares, Jaén) A visual artist and a central figure of the Movida Madrileña, Spain’s cultural resurgence of the 1980s. Trained in architecture, he emerged as a leading voice in Spanish New Figuration, known for his expressive, narrative-driven scenes rooted in figurative drawing. His dynamic compositions blend vibrant color with emotional depth, capturing the intersection of myth, history, and modern life. While painting remains his main medium, de Juan’s evolving practice spans acrylics, charcoal, video art, and digital techniques. Drawing on sources like mythology, biblical texts, and classical art, he uses archetypes to explore contemporary human experience. Based in Madrid, the city remains both muse and backdrop for much of his work, anchoring his enduring exploration of urban life and collective identity.

A graduate of École Boulle and Les Gobelins in Paris, she has trained further in Marbella, Málaga, and Barcelona. Poirier Troyano has held solo shows in Marbella and participated in international exhibitions, including ARCO 2024 and “Crisálidas.” Winner of the María Teresa Toral Prize (2019), her work explores identity and transformation through a refined blend of technique and expression.
