Out and about: Javier de Juan - Black room

4 November - 22 December 2023
Overview
Out and about.
Stepping on the ground, the world.
Walking.
Coming and going.
The earth is round, the universe is curved.
Going straight is going round.
Infinity is a point.
Always arriving somewhere.
Digital, virtual footsteps, moving in parallel worlds,
in infinite meta landscapes.
But also analogue, physical steps.
Movements expressed with burnt wood,
with oil and pigments on cotton and linen papers.
Small, satisfying, convenient, everyday eternities.
The beauty of the ephemeral.
Life.
To move is to be, to be, to build a now.
It is to fill a meanwhile.
To walk is to live.

The works presented here are a sample of the work developed by the artist Javier de Juan in recent years. It is an observation of our movement as urban beings, as we all are in this global, physical and virtual space in which we move. It is a search for the perfect movement, for its expression by all the means at our disposal: physical, such as painting and drawing, or virtual, developed with 3D technologies and existing on screens and projectors. The expression in time and space of our small, ephemeral existence, but immense in intention and beauty.

Since the first public projection in 2015, on the façade of Tabacalera in Madrid, these works have been shown regularly as the search and research progresses. and research progresses. The latest have been in Segovia and Lisbon. In 2024 they will be seen in Malaga and Madrid.

Throughout his extensive career as an artist, Javier de Juan has explored a wide variety of media and has immersed himself in the possibilities of new technologies. While Javier is widely known as a painter and storyteller, in this exhibition we present another facet of his work that highlights the constant search for movement, a fundamental basis of his work, transcending paper and exploring new visual dimensions.

We are pleased to announce that on November 4, artist Javier de Juan will present in the black room of our gallery a dialogue between the digital world and his painting, where we will be able to appreciate the interconnection between his masterful spontaneity and fluidity as a draftsman, contrasted with the movement captured in the audiovisual environment.
