Sculptor Juan José Botella continues his artistic exploration of the relationship between drawing and sculpture with his new alabaster work. Staying true to his interest in materiality and emptiness, Botella carves fragile, organic forms that seem to defy the weight of the stone, emphasizing the space that surrounds them. His work is conceived as a three-dimensional drawing, where light and shadow shape delicate stone lines, creating a dialogue between the ephemeral and the permanent. In this process, alabaster becomes a language of subtlety and balance, transforming sculpture from a solid mass into an interplay of transparencies and voids.
