Galería Isolina Arbulu celebrates Quique Sarzamora’s participation in an exhibition bringing together three generations of Andalusian artists, from the New Figuration movement to the most recent contemporary practices.
On November 13, 2026, the Museo de Málaga will open Sombra y cloro. Sueños, deseos y ruinas de un verano infinito. De la Nueva Figuración a hoy (Shadow and Chlorine: Dreams, Desires and Ruins of an Endless Summer. From New Figuration to Today), a group exhibition organised by the Andalusian Institute of Visual Arts and curated by Fernando Sáez Pradas.
Bringing together more than twenty artists, the exhibition traces half a century of Andalusian contemporary art, establishing a dialogue between influential figures such as Luis Gordillo, Chema Cobo and Guillermo Pérez Villalta and a new generation of contemporary artists.
Through two iconic symbols of the Mediterranean imagination — the swimming pool and the palm tree — the exhibition explores ideas of leisure, freedom, desire and modernity, while also addressing the contradictions of tourism, the transformation of the landscape and the ecological crisis.
Quique Sarzamora participates with a painting previously presented in Y así es como pinto mis sueños (And This Is How I Paint My Dreams), the exhibition held at Galería Isolina Arbulu last summer, alongside Claudia Torán and Jon Amorrortu.
For our gallery, it is a particular source of pride to see a work from our exhibition programme become part of this wider exploration of Andalusian art, past and present. Sarzamora’s inclusion, representing a new generation of artists alongside some of the most significant names in Spanish contemporary painting, is a meaningful recognition of his work and of the vitality of contemporary artistic creation.
At Galería Isolina Arbulu, we are delighted to celebrate this achievement, which reinforces our commitment to supporting and promoting emerging generations of artists whose practices continue to shape and enrich the contemporary art landscape.
