Loewe Foundation Craft Prize Finalist 2025
French-Andalusian multidisciplinary artist known for her expertise in sculpture, engraving, and textile creations. Drawing inspiration from her background in applied arts and interior design, as well as traditional craftsmanship, she has developed a unique approach that seamlessly blends technique and artistic expression. Poirier-Troyano’s work is deeply influenced by her fascination with Asia, particularly Japan and China, where she mastered the Shibori technique and integrated engraving into her practice.
Her artistic influences span from the Bauhaus movement to Chinese expatriate artists like Chu Teh-Chun and Zao Wu-Ki, creating a diverse visual language that includes textiles, drawing, furniture design, and jewelry.
Poirier-Troyano is a graduate of École Boulle in applied arts and Les Gobelins in graphic arts in Paris. She has honed her skills through workshops in Marbella, Málaga, and Barcelona. Her work has been showcased in solo exhibitions in Marbella and international collective exhibitions such as ARCO 2024 and “Crisálidas.”
With several prestigious awards, including the María Teresa Toral Prize (2019), Poirier-Troyano is recognized for her ability to fuse traditional craftsmanship with a contemporary vision, exploring themes of identity and transformation in her art.

Marie Isabelle Poirier-Troyano (Antequera, 1970) is a Franco-Andalusian artist renowned for her mastery in sculpture, printmaking, and textile creation. With a background in applied arts from the École Boulle and graphic arts from Les Gobelins in Paris, she has further refined her skills in workshops in Marbella, Málaga, and Barcelona. Currently based in Genalguacil, her work explores themes of identity, transformation, and the intersection of traditional techniques with contemporary artistic expressions.
Her practice spans a wide range of mediums, combining sculpture, printmaking, and textiles to evoke deep reflections on the human condition. Poirier-Troyano’s work has been exhibited internationally, with notable solo exhibitions, such as IKIGAI at Isolina Arbulu Gallery in Marbella (2024), and her participation in major art fairs like ARCO 2024. She has received numerous accolades, including the María Teresa Toral National Contemporary Printmaking Award in 2019 for her piece Silencio, and her art is part of public and private collections, including the Museum of Genalguacil.
Poirier-Troyano's art is characterized by a unique fusion of classical and modern elements, offering profound insights into the complexities of identity and the transformation of both the self and the environment.
