n this large-scale diptych, Jon Amorrortu moves between figuration and abstraction, creating an image that feels both familiar and unstable. Fragments of flowers, vessels and organic forms emerge from layers of colour and gesture, only to dissolve again into the painting.

The two canvases work in dialogue: one more abstract and expansive, the other revealing recognisable elements of a still life. Rather than describing a scene, Amorrortu constructs and deconstructs it through overlapping forms, shifts in scale and areas of exposed or disrupted colour.

Nature is present throughout the work, but not simply as a subject. For Amorrortu, it becomes a way of exploring something more intimate: transformation, fragility and the relationship between what disappears and what remains. The title, Flowers will grow from my decaying body, and I shall be within them, reinforces this idea of nature as a continuous process of change and renewal.

The result is a painting that asks the viewer to move between recognition and uncertainty, allowing the image to remain open rather than fixed.
