Overview

In The Alchemy of Light, Las Ánimas —the duo formed by Trini Salamanca and Pablo Párraga— present a series of resin totems that vibrate with color, symbolism, and an almost ritual energy. Installed in the Black Room of the gallery, the exhibition becomes a space charged with mystery, where light and color take center stage.

Each totem is the result of a rigorous, handcrafted process in which epoxy resin is carefully manipulated, with precise control of temperature, humidity, and catalyzation. The forms that emerge are intense, brilliant, and saturated with color, imposing themselves as ceremonial objects that seem to channel invisible forces. By incorporating light within, these pieces transform into a hybrid between art and design, since beyond their sculptural dimension they also carry a functional, luminous presence. They are not merely sculptures, but vestiges of an invented mythology where the esoteric and the futuristic intertwine.

Drawing inspiration from tribal aesthetics, cybernetic visions, and unconscious memories, Las Ánimas explore the alchemy of materials to create works that blur the boundaries between object and aura, the tangible and the sensorial. In the semi-darkness of the room, the totems glow: both artifact and apparition, body and symbol.

The Alchemy of Light invites us into a dreamlike encounter where the physical intensity of color, the tactile sheen of resin, and the vibration of light merge to transport us into an altered reality. In this environment, tradition, mysticism, and material experimentation converge, giving shape to visions that seem to come from a remote past—or perhaps from a time yet to come.
