If I had to summarise or frame all my artistic projects to date in a single word, it would undoubtedly be ephemeral.
Lola Guerrera understands art as a way to explain and make comprehensible the greatest things through the smallest. Her work addresses themes of significant philosophical or scientific depth, constructing subtle metaphors with everyday and familiar elements. There is a solicitous attitude in her artistry, striving to render intelligible and beautiful that which, due to its magnitude, often eludes our understanding.
As a skilled constructor of metaphors, Lola ensures that sign and meaning coincide in each work. The sign: dry leaves, seeds, plants, bushes, vases with flowers, branches—elements extracted from or situated within the natural environment. The meaning: life cycles (life and death), the suspension of planets in the universe, nebulae, the principle of entropy—concepts of considerable complexity derived from the world of science. The key lies in the connection Guerrera achieves between these two worlds, different yet similar, governed by the same physical laws. Thus, she makes the smallest and most fragile natural elements speak of universal immensity. This involves connecting two very different languages: botanical or phytological knowledge and figures from the scientific world (prisms, telescope photographs, the armillary sphere).
Trained as a photographer, Lola Guerrera began her career constructing images that existed solely to be photographed—ephemeral pieces seeking a connection with uncertainty. From this approach emerged large pieces made with tiny scraps of matter, connecting the minimal with the maximal and highlighting the cosmos's immensity against our own fragility.
The next natural step after her ephemeral installations was creating pieces designed for exhibition spaces and specific artistic actions. This evolution led to a shift towards two-dimensionality and subsequently to creating sculptures where the ephemeral becomes merely an illusion. These works, which appear fragile, acquire three-dimensionality, transforming into sculptures capable of enduring beyond the artistic moment. They carry profound spiritual connotations, highlighting life's brevity and the inconsequentiality of earthly concerns. Through her creations, Lola confronts us with our transience, constructing worlds that emerge as closed, emotional atmospheres.
In her ongoing work, Lola Guerrera continues to blend the smallest elements with universal themes, inviting viewers to reflect on the delicate relationship between humans and their natural environment. Her art is a sensitive and poetic exploration of the interconnectedness of all things, making the grand comprehensible through the minute.

Lola Guerrera is a visual artist renowned for her distinctive approach to photography and installation. Her work explores themes such as vulnerability, nature, and the interaction between humans and their environment, combining delicacy with deep conceptual thought.
Lola Guerrera graduated in Audiovisual Communication from the University of Málaga in 2004 and completed an International Master in Photography in "Creation and Concept" at the prestigious EFTI School in Madrid in 2008. Additionally, she has musical training in piano since 1999, which adds a rhythmic and auditory dimension to her visual work.
Throughout her career, Guerrera has received numerous awards and grants recognizing her talent and contribution to contemporary art. Highlights include the Acquisition Award at the El Brocense Plastic Arts Contest in Cáceres (2017), the Artistic Residency at the "Encuentros de Arte 2016" in Genalguacil, Málaga, and the Daniel Vázquez Díaz Grant for artistic creation (2014). In 2018, she was the guest artist at the FLORA FESTIVAL, International Flower Festival in Córdoba, her hometown.
Lola Guerrera has presented her work in numerous impactful solo exhibitions. Notable among these are "Lo incierto" at the MaF Festival in Málaga (2020), "Asteroide II" at the Cervantes Institute in Madrid (2019), and "Lo vulnerable" in various venues including the Iniciarte Hall in Córdoba (2014) and the GUATEPHOTO Photography Festival in Guatemala (2016). Her work has been included in important group exhibitions internationally, such as "Autopoiesis" at the Municipal Heritage Museum in Málaga (2022), "Inmensa Luz" organized by the Enaire Foundation in several European cities (2017), and the Biennial of Young Creators MEDITERRANEA16 in Ancona, Italy (2013). Guerrera has participated in prestigious art fairs and festivals such as ARCO, JUST MADRID, and the Singapore International Photography Festival (SIPF), among others. Her presence at these events solidifies her position as a significant figure in contemporary art.
Lola Guerrera's work is part of numerous public and private collections, including the Contemporary Art Center of Málaga, the Aena Foundation, and the Olor Visual Collection by Ernést Ventós. Guerrera's work has been featured in various specialized and general publications, such as EXIT, EL PAÍS, and BLINK MAGAZINE. Her author book "Lo vulnerable," published by the Diputación de Huelva, reflects her deep interest in the fragility and ephemeral beauty of nature.
As part of her commitment to education and artistic dissemination, Lola Guerrera has given lectures and workshops at institutions such as EFTI in Madrid, the Institute of Fine Arts of San Luis de Potosí in Mexico, and the Madariaga Foundation in Seville. Her conferences address topics on the intersection between photography, installation, and the relationship of art with scientific disciplines such as astronomy and botany.
